If you’re self-conscious about the effects of aging on your skin, join the club! However, there are many things that you can do to make your skin appear more youthful in addition to using good skincare products with active ingredients. The following are a few natural home remedies you can use to make your skin look younger. I’ve been using these and my skin has definitely improved!

1. Drink lots of water.

You have probably heard that water is good for your skin, but you probably don’t know just how good. It evaporates from the skin, so constantly maintaining its hydrated state will keep it elastic and smooth, which will do a lot to slow down the aging process.

2. Drink green tea.

A lot of people know that green tea has a lot of antioxidants. However, it is less known that drinking a cup of green tea twice daily can reverse sun damage on a person’s skin within about six months. It is known for high concentrations of the antioxidant catechin, which is known for its anti-aging effects, such as delaying the onset of wrinkles and preventing enlargement of age spots and moles. You can even apply green tea topically for the same benefits!

3. Use honey when you wash your face.

Honey is full of antioxidants, it moisturizes the skin, and it opens up pores. Take about half a teaspoon of raw honey, adding in a few drops of water so that the consistency is spreadable, and rub it gently on your clean face. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water and pat your skin dry. For best results, rub a toner on your face afterwards; you can make your own by mixing 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar with half a cup of aloe vera or water.

4. Eat cooked tomatoes.

Tomatoes are filled with lycopene, which is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the skin from sun damage. It is most efficiently absorbed by the body when it has been processed or cooked, which is why cooked tomatoes are more effective in this way than raw ones. If you don’t like tomatoes, you can opt for beets or red peppers, which also contain Lycopene.

5. Put turmeric on your face.

Turmeric has many anti-inflammatory properties that clear up acne, soften skin, and diminish swelling and wrinkles. If you have oily skin, simply mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder with 2 teaspoons of rice flour and 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt, milk, sour cream, or cream. Replace the rice flour with finely ground oats if your skin is mature or dry. Rub the mixture all over your clean face, let it dry, and then rinse it off after 15 to 20 minutes. Start by doing this weekly, and if it works well, start doing it daily or every other day.
